We arrived thursday evening set up camp at bodega dunes campground had dinner and got our gear ready 4 brand new Promar 102 crab traps.  I we went out friday and the wind was very strong I found out why I wanted the rudder I started on the spud point side of the bay with my son and his buddy.  Our plan was to head out to the channel and set the traps to see if we could get a few rock crabs.  We were going to head from our launch site to the little beach at the inside of bodega head where the wife like to play with the dogs.  Told the wife If we did not make it there in about an hour she could pick us up on the other side of the bay.

Needless to say without a rudder and with my son and his buddy who were new to kayaking the wind was giving us fits we ended up crossing the channel and finding a nice little sand beach seaward of the coastguard station.

We did not put out the traps that day.

Next morning the wind had stopped and we gave it another shot we got about 20 nice crabs I baited the traps about sunset and we called it a day and headed to camp for a great crab dinner.  Next morning we head out to pick up the traps figuring they would have some nice sized crabs in them. Three of the four traps I set were empty and one was loaded.  Bait was gone.  Were my traps raided or did the craps just eat all the food and leave.  All in all it was a grear trip.

Hard to beat fresh crabs for dinner.  Thank you for the report Myrel.

The one trap That still had crabs in it had 3 or 4 large dungeness in it along with the rock crabs it hurt to toss them over the side.

Dinner and lunch were great fresh crabs and butter melted over the campfire could not ask for a better meal.
