Joel, Kevin.... you guys are going to miss out if you choose to go the ISE instead of the Fred Hall Show.  Jim Sammons is right about the improving attendance and quality of the Fred Hall Show.  It's not just a 'boat show" like it was many years ago.  I go to both shows every year, and I've found that the seminars and the bargain shopping is much better and less hectic at the Hall show compared to the ISE. Just use the pull down menus and check out the seminars at the Hall Show...

and compare it to the ISE shows...

I agree with you on that one Chuck.  Last ISE show I went to was pretty disappointing.  When I was younger I remember walking away with tons of stuff with the little cash I did have.  I don't recall coming accross any hot deals in the past few shows.  Seemed like most stuff was slightly marked down, if at all, from the prices at a normal tackle shop.  I think I'm gonna do the Fred Hall show this year.

Went to the Fred Hall's Boat Show last night after work and had a great time looking at things.  I also found a few more "necessary" items for my fishing adventures.  Between the Fishermen's Warehouse and Hi's Tackle you could save enough to pay for the entry fee...heh heh, good excuse to load up on gear.

Certainly not as crowded as the weekend and if you had questions everybody was more than willing to answer them.  Thanks to the Bay Bridge traffic it took me a while to get there so I didn't have the time to leisurely visit all the booths that I wanted to.  For all your rules and regs questions, Fish & Game had a big booth with a couple of rangers.  Adventure Sports, California Canoe & Kayak and one other vendor brought and displayed their kayaks.  There was a Hobie and OK kayak with some factory fishing gear but it would have been nice to see a fully pimped fishing machine on display.  After all this was a boat show but then again they think we're all crazy to get dragged around by fish...its supposed to be the other way around.

If you go to the show the central building has all the fishing gear and shops.  The outer hall across the way has the trout pond, the dog jumping pool, more boats and RV/Camping/truck gear.  I've seen dog jumping on TV but when you see it live you can see how powerful these dogs actually are...quite impressive.

If it rains and/or you can't get out to fish, the show would be a good alternative.  Have a great weekend,

Gary

I've been out of town, just got back today.  Sorry I missed the Fred Hall show, but I was skiing in Tahoe.  Excellent conditions.  Great to get out of the office for a couple of days.

BTW - I won 2 tix to the ISE show from the tackle tour folks!  Hope to see some familiar faces next weekend.

Kevin
