Started off early with some of the guys along the SMC.  Was a little bit choppy but overall not too bad.  Fishing was slow for me, i was fishing only big baits.  Had a few hits and c&r one decent cabby.  I think some of the other guys got more fish, and mcag's friend picked up a really nice sized cabby.  Not gonna give too much more info as its not mine to share.

Around 11, i started to feel a little  :smt078 ....  not surprising considering i hadn't been on the ocean in about 4 months and definitely not in any sort of decent swell.  I packed it up and went in.

Took a drive down the coast to Capitola.  On the way down, Joe/Bloodbath saw me in SC waved his hellos.

Headed down to NB to use my state parks pass.  There I met aka-kimo packing up, and AlgieSwift down below.  Neither had any hali love to speak of.

I decided to go ahead and launch, even though my stomach was still feeling a little down.  The swell was next to nothing and there was a bit of wind, but nothing I couldn't handle.  Ended up being a great weather day and I felt really nice on the water.  I picked up some scattered sardines trolling sabiki and dropped them down for halis.  I had one decent scratched bait but didn't get the hook in.  it was because I hadn't put a stinger on as I had no halibut type rigs.  My original plan was rockfish all day and it cost me.  oh well, no big deal I'll get em next time.

Anyways, as I was coming in, I hung out in the surf zone with a guy fishing off a board named Ryan.  Talked to him a bit and he hooked up as I was watching.  Ended up landing a pretty nice striper, probably in the 27" range or so.  I'm posting them up here in public because I told him to come on by the boards to get his pics!

So Ryan, if you're out there reading and want the original pics (much larger) send me a message or an email.

Here's the pics:

Hey bmb,

Great report. It was great to meet you on this trip - see you out there next time! I'm looking forward to actually posting to the forums (instead of just lurking), now that I've met a few more people.

Boy way to keep at it, ALL DAY Ben!!!  I certainly like to fish at Crapitola, but it hasn't paid off for me yet  :smt009  Probably be going back on Friday for some more 'fun'  :smt044

I've never parked at NB, but see the stairs in your pic.  Did you have to carry down the stairs or was there an easier way to bring the yak down?

I wheeled down the stairs and "bumped" my way down from there. On the way in I had to go to the bathroom so I landed near the end of the walkway and wheeled my way back up.

Al there is a road that winds down to the left of the stairs in the pic.

Oh yes, there is a paved road all the way down. There are some small stone steps down to the beach below the staircase (which I bounced down) or you can make a long walk down and around to where the bathrooms are.  Its not too bad of a launch. Considering I carried my revo back up the steps at PP it would be easier than that.
