Great day with family and good friends!!

Met Brent/Porky at my house at 4am and drove down with my Dad to StillWater...thick fog hid the lunar eclipse, and the tide was super low when we got there...

Paddled on FAC water into SUPER thick kelp...seems to have really grown in the past month!!
Met Stoggie, Al, Sara and Andy/FM1 out OTW...was great to see the A-Hull crew out in force...me missed you PK!!   :smt006

Worked both out front and inside until about 10:30...Big fish didn't want to come out and play, but my Dad and I put together a nice combined stringer of RockFish...he got two nice Blacks, I caught a bunch of dinks and kept 5 or so that were either floaters or looked big enough to pan-fry. I got a nice fat 14 inch Black with a big old LingHickey on it's side!! Also got a tagged Gopher!!!   :smt004

Paddled over with my Dad to the side beach for a stretch/beer break and switched yaks so he could try out the T15 instead of the BigYak...surprise, surprise he liked it better!!   :smt005 :smt044

Very proud of my 71 year old Dad paddling and yak fishing like a champ!!!  :smt003

Good job Poppa Virgil!!!!!  :smt004

BEAUTIFUL spot, but the sun never came out to show off the water's colors..oh well, the fog has it's own beauty!!

Got chilly around 10:30 so headed into the beach where Andy and Sarah were putting together a feast/party!!!
 :smt003 :smt004 :smt007

Also met and got checked by a nice young DFG woman...she was very friendly!!!   :smt001 :smt004

Valentina, Ana and my Mom then showed up with more food and beer and Valentina came out in the BigYak with me and swam until she got too cold!! So cool being OTW with her!!  :smt004 :smt007 :smt004

Highlight of the day...the time at the beach after with my NCKA buddies and my family...really appreciate them all coming out to help show my family how the A-Hulls/NCKA do things...

Feel VERY grateful to have spent such a great time with my family and such good friends!!!

THANK YOU A-Hulls!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 :smt006

Came home and cooked up a mess of fish for the family and some good friends...Brent gave me his two fish so we had plenty for the whole group!!

My Dad LOVED how the Blacks tasted!!!  :smt007

Sincerely,

Jim

Jim,
Thanks for the great report and pictures.  Great to get your dad on the water to enjoy the "madness".  I'll have to travel South to fish with you guys one of these days.

When I first saw the pics on Facebook, I had wondered if Valentina had fallen into the water or jumped in. Your dad did great.

Had A blast hanging with the coolest people I know. Jims family is top noch awsome.Left the fishing pole at home and brought my dive gear. Headed over to one of my spots by myself for some diving. The vis was terrible with some sort of bloom going on with the kelp. I would say the vis was prob A foot. I managed to shoot A rubberlip and A rainbow. Missed A shot on A nice china. Decided to give up about an hour latter. Went back to the launch and showered up. Fell asleep in my van for around an hour and waited for the otheres to return. Had A great time on the beach with some great food and drink.. Cant wait to do it again....Andy
