Smelt in Martin's Beach - San Mateo Coast

Back in the 80's I used to go smelt fishing (actually netting) about this time at Martin's beach just south of Princeton Harbor.  Anyone know if that place is still open and whether the smelt still run in the other beaches at this time of the year?  They are one of my favorite fishes to deep fry.  Very tasty and they are also good as striper bait.

I think we went to the Red White and Blue beach more often.   

Good luck - smelt/surf fish are great fun to catch and very tasty too.

I fish off of red white & blue a few times a summer. I'm usually too far offshore for scenery though

Yup, I heard of a few runs last year at a few of those beaches. Maybe even other predators chasing them too (throw-nettin tsharks lol). But I haven't heard any news recently.
