The weather report looks okay this weekend with bean looking just doable.  I am thinking about going if I have some company.  Anyone want to tag along?

I would like to join, you willing to teach a newbie?  Literally, I got a fishing pole and that's it, trying to learn all this since I never had a chance.  If it's a yes, would you tell me what I would need?  I have time on friday and sat. to buy what I am missing.  I am located in Santa Clara.

A caveat: The San Mateo coast can be treacherous.

bring all pertinent safety gear, and know your personal limits & kayak recoveries. There have been a number of close calls & outright rescues in the area.
Current predicted  conditions are not ideal, but could be doable.

You'll have a major tidal swing dUe to the moon phase, potential wind, swell to 6' or so (which can make the inshore 30-60 foot depths dangerous during a low tide due to reef breaks when a sneaker set wave rolls through) and not to be dramatic, but I have seen the occasional GWS up there.

Here is your required reading before going out... with just a fishing pole.

I'm interested in a coast hookup, but the surf report, to me, says that Bean would be chancy.

As I said, bean looks like it might be doable, but I am also pretty much of a chicken, so if I go and see that it looks ugly I will very likely back-off and either move south to pigeon or north to HMB to see if the conditions at either of those launches look any better.  As far as newbies go, although I have gone out quite a bit this year, I still consider myself a newbie so I don't think I should be training anyone :) .

I might do RC slough on Saturday not sure if that sounds interesting to you or not. I drove by Pescadero today and there some good surf going on.

I might do 'the jaws' on Sunday, which is a little north of Bean and is very launchable in a 5-6' swell.  I also might do PP again.  Wind + swell = no fun, but it looks like no wind.  Obkook might be able to make it again.

What do you think?

That sound's good to me.  Let me know the meet up time.

I was really looking forward to doing some ocean fishing this weekend.  What does July 5th look like for you?
