Got off work at 4, raced home and took my Dad out for his first time on a kayak EVER...brought the rods along just in case he felt comfortable enough to soak some bait... :smt002

Met e2g at the dock...nice to meet you!!   :smt006

Get my Dad in the BigYak and paddling around and he did AWESOME, and then we paddled over to the kelp beds...fished for a bit together and I caught and released 3 or 4 little dinky RockFish...Dad was getting used to the yak and then I hear him scream "I got a fish!!" and I look over and his rod is bendo!!!  :smt003

Gets in the boat, talk him through getting it on the gameclip and then he yells YES!!...And right then I hear him crack a beer!!

LOL!!!

Paddled back in after awhile and we came back into the beach instead of the dock where we launched so he could get the surf experience..he did great!!

Came home, cooked up the fish along with some of Ana's homemade gumbo made even better by some NOLA crabmeat that my Mom brought out!!

Really enjoyed sharing kayak fishing with my Dad and very grateful that I got the chance to spend some quality time on the water with him!!

Sincerely,

Jim

Dude, I miss gumbo big time. I lived in Lafayette for a year so I know all the great food they have there. Great picture of your dad holding the fish on the
kayak. It looks like you have to win another kayak for him. :smt044 :smt044
Thanks for the report and pictures Jim.

Thanks guys...

The Gumbo is my Mom's recipe that she taught to Ana last time we were out there...

Ana made a big batch of it for Valentina's 4th birthday party in January and we froze some to share with my Mom to see if she thought Ana had done a good job...she approved wholeheartedly!!  :smt003

Here is the whole clan walking down to the beach yesterday!!!  :smt004
