Took the boat and fished the OP derby.  Fished herring and a jig.  Trolled and drifted.  Marked lots of stripers but no love on the hook.  Finally called it a day as the wind was nasty.  So nasty that the net in the net holder, 21' boat, got bent from the bouncing. Now 7" shorter.  One boat rescued a yakker.  Rental sit inside.  Was middle of bay and out of the boat.  50 yards from the boat.  PFD but no wetsuit.  At least Monterey furnishes a wetsuit.  They said he was so paniced that he probably would not have lasted much longer.  Water was 61.4 degrees.

Wow...sounds pretty nasty out there!!

Sorry you didn't get any fish, but glad you and the guy in trouble on the yak are OK...
