Quarry Lakes,  Fremont, CA
nice sunny day
wind drift strong

6 months after buying a tandem to take the family yak fishing, we finally took the maiden voyage.  We had a church picnic at Quarry Lakes, and the kids have been wanting to go yakking for awhile.  With school out for the summer and a beautiful day, we launched after lunch and had a good time while it lasted.

Wife was scared and wanted to get on land asap, so she only lasted 10 minutes... maybe next time.
Kids had fun.  My 12-year old had a difficult time with the wind, and having to paddle my T160, or the tandem with his friend lounging in the front.  Kids are looking forward to the next yak opportunity - at Collins Lake for a few days in July.  We only fished for about 20 minutes  because wife wanted to go home, so we skunked while drifting with Powerbait.

Thanks for the report Jon. That place is tough especially in hot weather. I live 5 minutes from it but I don't fish there. Maybe I should try it again now that I have a hobie, which makes trolling much easier. Last Friday Sledge and I walked around the whole lake and saw 4 fish caught around the shoreline. Beautiful kids you have there. My boy is 12. I have a hard time getting him to go out on the water with me.

We're opposite John. My wife wants a tandem so she doesn't have to stay on the
sideline again. She loves the water. Just waiting for a right time to set with Sonny
so I can buy his tandem from him.

I hate it too...  but it does have it's charms.  The water is really nice and clean, and it's nearly 90 feet deep in spots, with some interesting structure.
