Hey Guys,

I'll be camping for a full week in big sur later this month. Hoping to get out on the kayak a couple times, do some rockfishing etc.  Lots of good info on this site, maybe too much info for what I need :smt001

Any recommendations of good places to launch the kayak and fish somewhat local to Big Sur? I'm hoping for within 40-40 miles. Limekiln? I'm not too scared of the surf, as long as its reasonable.
Thanks in advance.
Steve

Sorry, inside joke...
Seriously, steveooo, take a look at the launch site map in this section - click on the NorCal Kayak Launch Sites thread at the very top of the page and open the link; there are a couple launches listed in Sur. However, note that Limekiln is currently closed. You can also do a search to find past reports & such that might help. Be safe out there.

Uh yeah. Nasty shore break. Still getting sand out of my reels from 2 weeks ago. I wouldn't fish down there alone either, it's one of the landlord's places, especially Willow. On the lighter side, it is a great place to view whales and big "basking sharks".  :smt005 PAL wrote a nice article. http://www.kayakfishingzone.com/destinations/southsur.html If you fish Limekiln, you can't enter before 8 AM or the "large" ranger will slap an $89 tresspassing ticket on your car IF you have kayak racks.
