Too tired to write much.

Got to meat Sean/Piscean at the beach while waiting for Porky and Stoggie.
 :smt006
Jigged up sardines right out front for live bait, paddled over to the channel area and drifted the edges..got one fat grasscod and a bunch of annoying gophers trying to eat sardines that were as big as they were!! Stoggie got a sweet cabbie right off the bat!!

It was Hot, FAC and tons of dolphins out...gorgeous day.

Drifted back, or tried to, but there was no drift so it was a slow paddle/troll...Got one nice takedown, ripping some drag, get it right under the yak, decent size ling...then it just let go and swam away!!
 :smt005
Worked the Cap Kelp beds for a bit for nada then came back to my place with Stoggie, drank a few beers and cooked up two small Rockies for him and I...yummy!!

Coolest catch of the day for me: a 20 inch red rose just floating around, and a picture of two dolphins!!
 :smt007
Sincerely,

Jim

Beautiful day, only one rock fish for me, and a real nice take down on the Butt drift, horses it and lost it.

Baaaad, hangover, attended a 40th bday  till late lat night and not really feeling a 100%.  Sorry I missed the 4th quarter of this trip guys, the hangover, with all that sun got the best of me. Walking the yak up the big hill was a big bitch today.

Till next time.

Good to meet you & Brent down there Jim!

I went for the gamefish, so jigged up some sardines for the bait tube & flylined them. First cast I hooked up.......for about 2 seconds. I'm just not used to fishing big finbaits like that & probably yanked it out of the fish's mouth. That was it for me, other than the dines I got for bait.
However, my goal this year was to fish more spots than I did last year (which was 7). This was trip #6 for me this year, and also spot# 6, so with the gorgeous weather I went home stoked. With a little generosity from one of my fishing pals I had my very first taste of striped bass last night as well.
This also marked the first trip this year that I finally got both of my little abu reels functioning properly. I guess not maintaining them for two seasons was not a good idea, but now I've got my "two gun" quiver back just in time for some serious bottom fishing.
All in all another fine day!

 :smt006

Couldn't resist sharing this pic of the Ocean's gifts to me on this day...Fat 16 inch GrassCod and 20 inch RedRose!!

The wine was a gift from friends though, not the Ocean!!
