background info:
started ab diving from shore this year with boogie board.  Have ab dived 3 times so far (spearfished 4 times).

I would like to try ab diving from my kayak to explore areas not reachable by shore diving.  Having researched NCKA and NCUH, looks like Russian Gulch, Albion, Caspar, NOyo, Van Damme and Glass Beach are the main yak launch site to ab dive.

Are there any launch sites south of Albion?

What are other good yak launch areas for ab diving south of Albion?  If you can provide general intel about dive sites w/o revealing honey hole, much appreciated (eg launch out and go south 1/4 mile to 1.5 miles).  I also like Uni, so good uni locations appreciated too.

Thanks in advance.

Navarro is a great spot.  About 5miles south of Albion, right where the 128 spits you on the 1.

Just launch & go around the corner to the first cove to north.  Varied diving there from 10-60ft, tons of abs & uni... some good fish too.

salmon creek beach? at end of spring grove road is the closest south of albion.
further south is navarro state beach.

both are sand beaches.
I am also in Oakland, send me a pm if you want to dive with us at mendo sometime. We don't always dive from kayaks though.

I always thought spring grove road was a private road.  Anybody ever used that for access?

Drive down to Elk , it is a great place to launch and dive. Great big abs and EASY luanch. Just the walk up and down the hill is little big.
I'll rest when I'm dead!

Hi Yakers:

I live in Albion for eight Years and Navarro is a long sandy
put in with strong Winds and Currents. Elk trail is a little
long and steep for most.
I would make sure to pick areas wherre you may tuck in from the NW
Winds. There not much in the way of Rescue South of Mendo. :smt044
I usually do VanDamme for low hanging Fruit on, the the Lee side of the
South Islands'  Tip. I know thier are lots of Divers but, I'm in by
Noon. Plate can be found the the Windward side of the Isl.
A Man need to know his Limits diving for Abs. VanDamme is a good entry level
spot to Dive. Navarro and Elk is for the more Adv. in shape Divers.
Gordons' lane is a good spot to shore Dive.
I will only Pwr. Boat from "The Flats" to Navarro for Fishing or Diving.

P.S. VanDamme will also kill you if, your not watching
for Wind, Current and a sudden Swell. Glass Beach was a Dump site!
