I dropped by before noon and saw my co-worker and his buddy already fishing the incoming tide. About half an hour later, Elric shows up and gets his line wet. There were about 30 rods all long the shoreline and my buddy gets the only hit of the day. He was reeling in his line cause it went slack. I was watching him reel in and noticed his rod started pumping and his line was running towards the shore line. Everyone thought at first that it was a bat ray.....then a leopard shark...and finally it was clearly identified as a seven gill. He caught the  seven gill shark using squid - the shark was estimated to be about 4  to 5 ft long , 15 to 20 pounds. My buddy kept reeling it in and his line snapped just a couple of feet from the rocky shoreline. No one had a net or snare - what a bummer. It was definitely the derby winning fish of the day had it been landed  :smt011

Yep, it woulda won, had he landed it, seeing how it was the only fish hooked the whole day.  I showed up around 300 and gave it everything I had. :smt011  Nice spot, if your a windsurfer. :smt005

it was right across the office - right behind the Golf range.

JTF, I think a better spot for the derby would have been Coyote Point. The bank fishng is waaaay better there.

coyote point bank fishing is great, but other good options are along show boat, kincaids and Oyster.

FYI:
ey Jason - the Showboat will re-open soon. I just don't know what kind of restaurant it will be.

Yeah, I noticed that they were working on the big paddle boat when I was striper fishing last spring. is the fishing in the area still open?  It will be interesting to see what type of food will be served.
