Between the sale through Memorial day, my dividend, and/or the 20% discount to members on a single item, I'm thinking of finally upgrading my paddle.

Not looking to spend more than $200 on one, and from seeing some of the ones available, maybe about 1/2 that amount.

Any recommendations for a solid decent paddle that won't break the bank (that REI carries)?

Thanks!
Peter

REI's Aquabound paddles, are 25% off.  Its a better deal.

I suggest you look into the StingRay line that runs from $105 to $138.

I'm a Werner guy from way back. They are spendy, but they last forever.

I have an Aquabound Manta Ray and a Eagle Ray. They both make my kayak go.

The Werner looks great, but I think the Aquabound paddles are more what I'm after.

Looks like they get pretty decent reviews too.

I've got a Manta Ray and it works just fine for me. It's by no means the best, but also not the worst. A friend of mine is upgrading to one as his Hobbie thing is a POS.

Cheers!

I went shopping for an Aquabound Manta Ray in the "black" lightest weight model today. Unfortunately, they only have short ones - 220 and 210cm lengths, whereas I've been using a more standard 230cm Sting Ray. So it's a heavier model, a shorter stick, or wait for a better deal. Price is good tho.

Speaking of Werner, do any of you know where I can get one either on sale or at a lower MSRP. Only place right now I could think of is either ebay or REI as well. Thanks everyone :D

Claveys has a few werner paddles on sale.. heres their sale page:

http://www.clavey.com/specials.php

I use a manta ray paddle on my yak, mainly because I had it already and have had so many other more important (er.. I mean more fun  ) things to buy.   :smt003    My wife paddles a SIK and has a werner paddle that feels like it weighs NOTHING at all compared to mine and its very strong.

Apparently not...I wanted the Shuna ( http://www.rei.com/product/781885 ) but after speaking to people at REI I was told sorry, we don't carry that model anymore in any of our stores or online.  So I found it here instead http://tinyurl.com/campmorShuna and used our REI dividend for a new pfd for my wife.
