I enjoy my kayaks and kayak fishing but I've gotten to the point that everytime I get near the water I want to dive. I'm considering going to the dark side. I have been looking at inflatables. I can't justify kayaks and a boat. I would sell my kayaks to pay for the boat. I know a zodiac would require reg, gas, maint, etc but it also would go very far, fast with more space. I'm thinking a 13-15 foot with a 20ish hp motor. Give me some thoughts.

I think it's a phase thing, at least it was for me, I've owned and dove out of hard boats, and inflatables.  Now I'm into yaks and don't ever plan to have another boat.   The change wasn't like overnight, it just kinda felt like it was time to simplify and also have something really convenient to take out alone.

Sounds like you're moving into a phase in your life where you want some more adventuresome diving than is readily available from your yak, so go for it,  Spearing fish is by far the funnest thing I've ever done, and it was definetly better out of the inflatable for sure.

My suggestion would be to get a good used setup so that you don't suffer that huge depreciation that comes when you drive off the lot, then you won't lose so much when you go back to yaks,

just my 2 cents,

Oh Merv !!!  Say it ain't so !!  You got mirage-drive. You don't need no stinkin' gas motor. If do; get a 14ft rigid-hull inflatable.

I did just the opposite. I got rid of my inflatable when I got a kayak.
ZERO regrets!!!!!
I hated having to trailer the inflatable. Beach launching at Van Damme was a beotch having to carry the motor down. Loading the Zodiac onto the trailer solo at Albion sucked with the flow of the river; both directions.
I can't say I have seen any less fish with my kayak than with my Zodiac.
With the Zodiac I saw the same water, just different rocks.
One more thing. I haven't seen an NCIB club yet either. (Nor Cal Inflatable Boats)
