It looks like a 1987 Boston Whaler Montuak!  I finally managed to scrimp up enough cash and found the right boat at the right time. I've had a number of small aluminums, but with a growing family just needed something a bit bigger to get us all on the water and back safely (not to mention my own personal fishing wetdream!).  Before you label me a traitor or sell-out I've still got my camo Pro Explorer, and actually picked up a tandem last week too.

The trip to get the boat was an adventure in itself with a roll-over accident in front of us, a lightening bolt hitting a transformer 100 yards from my truck, and having to use 4wd to push through a freak hail/snow storm...crazy stuff but I got her and made it home safe and sound.  So far I've stripped all the wood off, re-oiled, scrubbed/waxed/cleaned and replaced the fuel tank.  Hope to get her out tomorrow evening for a shake-down run.  I can't wait to spill the first blood on the pretty white deck though!

I've salmon fished out of Humboldt Bay on that model - solid boat for sure.  Enjoy it, Ben - how about bringing it to GS5?   :smt003

Very clean rig.  Since one of my favorite pass times is helping others spend their money  :smt003 might I suggest:

A bimini.....sun protection for the fam trips
Rip out the leaning post and throw in one with built in fishbox/ice chest ....saves deck space
Rocket launchers...double up around the console and for your new leaning post/icebox

let me know if you need anymore help  :smt002

Did cashing in the year's worth of WAF include a supply of fuel for the new toy?

No fuel included I'm afraid!

Bimini top is tops of the list, the 115 degree summers up here make that a requirement!  I have the combo seat/cooler in front of the console which gives a bit more seating room, along w/ a 6-pack of rod holders.  It's pretty dialed in, the guy I bought it from fished commercial for a loooong time, so he new how to rig things to make them work.  He's even run her out to the Farallones, pretty hard core!  I'll have to muster up the cojones just to run out the Humboldt jaws!

Congrats on the super clean classic whaler! I'm still saving up my WAF account for the exact same thing. That is unless I can get a great deal on an 18' outrage. :smt001

I love kayak fishing. But I also really enjoy taking people out fishing who might not be into the yak thing.

Seriously nice boat though. Cheap to run and cheap to repower too when the time comes.
