Made the trip to SWS for the first time today... pretty quiet out there, weather wasn't too bad. Launch was super easy and the people at the beach and tennis club were super cool. Met a couple of locals on yaks (non-ncka), and the bite was a little slow for them.

First drop at about 70 ft, and a minute later tap tap and fish on! Took a picture of him and released my first fish of the day for good karma...

Tried a few different spots, ended up catching about 15 total, released about half, including a couple of underlings and a couple of short cabs...

On the way in by the island I dropped a couple of firetiger 3" grubs and hit about 4 more gophers in 30 ft. All in all had a blast and can't wait to go back!

Roger

Oh and i included a pic of my invited guest for dinner... steamed chinese style!

Danny - I'm trying to keep up with you and your performance at Lover's Pt!

I got back from LA last friday, and I hope nobody holds this against me but I went on a party boat out of Oxnard to Channel Islands to see what their rockfishing is like. Its definitely cheaper ($55-65 for 8 hrs) but the rockfish are tiny and I actually won the jackpot with a 3 pounder. May have just been a slow day, i hear its better in December for big fish. Plenty of sanddabs on that trip too...

And about the ginger... look a little closer, there are in there, sliced real thin...!

WTG, Roger!  With all the fishing of late, did you even get to see your GF... or maybe she joined you on the charter boat.

Thx for the report.  My wife does the steamed fish thing and it's tasty- not to mention healthy.

We'll miss you at GS4, but see you OTW next time.

Rog,

The way you cooked that fish is 2nd to none. I believe it is the best and tastiest way to prepare the RF's.  Then followed by Big Jim's whole fried fish. Sorry Jim for giving you 2nd place only. Coupled with hot steam rice, fish sauce or soy sauce mixed with a smashed small red hot chili is a sure delight. Signs that you are enjoying it: sweats all over the head.

When do you plan to go next? I have classes the next 3 Saturdays so if I go, I have to file a vacation during weekdays. I think you can only go during weekdays and normally works on weekends. Because of my classes, I would also miss the GS4 and the chance to know all the rest of the NCKA family.

To all the GS4 goers, we will be anxiously waiting for your reports and pictures. I can sense the eagerness of everyone attending that I can feel how exciting it already is.

Needless to say, enjoy everyone and share us your joys.

Danny

Danny

I work an abnormal schedule where sometimes i have weekends off and sometimes weekdays. But I do prefer weekday fishing, esp. with places like SWS where parking can be a problem. You let me know when you're available, and lets look at the weather and you can decide whether its worth a day of playing hookey from work to get out.

The fish will be waiting for you buddy...
