Greetings, it's time for me to share.  This is my first outing since the rockfish opener.  Out of the Santa Cruz Harbor at sunrise, water temp 54.  No notable amount of bait or bird life showing.

I started SE of the mile bouy in 60 ft and made a point of stopping on fish rather than letting it go.  The current was raging up and out so it was hard to stay on what I was seeing on the meter.  The rockfish were tightly concentrated and hugging the bottom.  They had no interest in my squid strip presentation.  I stopped twice on a huge school, suspended off the bottom and they ended up being dinky yellowtail (6"ers).

I moved further to the SE in 60 to 65 feet and stopped on scatterd fish along the bottom.  They turned out to be bolinas, I caught these two and lost about four others (for some reason).  Threw back a canery.  Caught and release two small lingcod on a glow 7" swimbait.  Lost (for some reason) about three other sizable fish on the swimbait.  The wind came up at 10:00-10:30.  I'll try again tomorrow -company welcome.
