Took the wife for a drive up along the coast. The weather was gorgeous up north and no wind at all. Left San Leandro around 6:30am and arrived at Van Damme around 9:00am. Broke out my 2 burner Expedition and started cooking breakfast. The menu was Spam/Eggs and Rice. After that, I suited up and start kicking out towards the south island. Shot some rockfish and plenty of those silver kine perch. Easy limit of abs in 25' of h2o. The weather was so nice I actually swam around for a couple of hours. Overall, great outing with the wife and now seafood fiesta for mother's day.

Dale, VanDamme it's a great place to camp. I usuallly camp with the family at Albion. I like it there because you just launch your boat at the river under the bridge. Take my 17' Boston Whaler if we camp 3 or more days.

I've been to VD at least once a year every yr since 85, been thru the hard boat years, inflatable yrs, and now into the yak years , thinking the yak is it til I die.  Tried Albion a few times but the GF and crew look at it as too much of a fish camp. Although they do have some nice showers there.

Have a good one,

The last few years VD has seen more kelp than ever before.
I have a feeling this summer will be no different.
Way to hit it before it gets too thick.
