Went out w/Joseph.  He first time on the seas.  I had my two crab traps and place them in the wrong place.  Only got 6 rock crab.  Thoses thing are hard to grab with your bare hands.

Seas were nice, a litlle windy and overcast.  I got 3 lings (25" & 28") the last one was undersize.  Joseph got one Blue or Black cod.  Joseph had his first flip on the ocean.  He was drifting the wrond way and his line went under the yak.  Instead of reeling in and dropping down, again.  He tried to moved his line around the back of his yak.  He flipped.  Luckly he had his things strapped down.  Lost a few things.  But, he was wrapped in his fishing line and the strap to his rod.  I had to come by and cut the lines before he could get yak up right.  I was ready to go in then.  But, he had a really nice wet suit (made for skin divers) and said he could hang out still.

It was probably a hour into our fishing time.  Launch at 7am and had no fish at the time.  Left at noon.  Real slow for the rockcod.  It was a out going tide and I think the fish leave the area.

I like to bring large BBQ tongs when I go out crabbing, makes things much easier than grabbing them with your bare hands.

Nice job on the lings Ken.

I don't go out alone too much, and that's one of the reasons.  You never know what can go wrong.  My biggest fear is a leaky kayak, being alone and offshore, but then again, stuff just happens sometime.

I think from now on, I'll attatch a knive to me or my PFD.

I have a knife in a clip holder on the front of my vest.  I try to keep my deck reasonably orderly but you never know and getting tangled after falling sounds just dreadful to me.......... :smt009
