This fish was caught in my shiner trap in the Oakland-Alameda Estuary.  It is about 12" long; not sure if this is a mature fish or a juvenile for some fish.  Thanks.

Common name is mudsucker, proper name is Goby. There many species of Goby, this is the one prevalent around here. They make great striper bait. I have even caught sturgeon on them.

BigDog is right, that's a goby.  You can tell my the fused pelvic fins it seems to be "standing" on.

Despite the bad angle of the photos, I can tell you that that's a yellowfin goby, Acanthogobius flavimanus and like most gobies in San Francisco Bay it's an invasive species from Asia.   Note the stripey pattern on the fins, it's pretty distinctive and unique among gobies in SFB.  The rest of the gobies (native and non-native) are also much smaller and not as elongate.  This one looks really skinny and at 12 inches long, it's about as big as they get.

Thanks for the info.  I was puzzled by the size of the fish and the proportion between head withth and body width.  This fish was in one of those 5 gallon paint bucket when pics were taken, so you can estimate the size of the thing...
