I think OK makes a 10 and 11 ft model.

Yes they do.

Another OCean Kayak to consider is the Scrambler. The advantage of the scrambler over the Venus is that it's got a heavier load capacity....just in case you have other family or friends that want to paddle out with ya.

...just my 2 cents

Look into buying a used Ocean Kayak Caper or Venus. They are usually sold for cheap, after some poor dude buys one for his GF then discovers she doesn't like kayaking or fishing.  :smt044

That's what I was thinking!

HDRich-thanks for the input. I think OK makes a 10 and 11 ft model. Yeah for more research!

ALS- Thanks I will check that out

Yep, the Venus family is 10 foot and 11 foot. And yes it does come in pink (portion of the sale goes to research for breast cancer).

I know this threads been dead for awhile but thought I would give an update. We got an awesome floor model price on a new OK Scrambler 11 that included seat and life jacket.

She sat in a Venus 11 but the cockpit was too short for her legs and the scrambler fit just right.

It will get wet next week since we will be down in Morro Bay for the week for some R&R and fishing of course.   :smt003 I'm sure we will hit up Avila, the bay, San Simeon and Cayucos. Not to mention the install of my new FF while I'm down there. Man it's gonna be a busy week!

Again thanks for all the input and laughs!

Hi Yakers:

How about a Scupper Pro TW? They are fast, light and not too $$$.
She'll like it even more in the Wind. :smt002

Ernie ,

That's right, efficiency of effort and light weight triumph over the color pink any day. Heck, my wife is barely 5'2" and she prefers the T160 over the Scupper. She likes the 17' long Looksha even more. Too many folks think "Lady = short boat". What they should be thinking is "How do I minimize the effort needed for maintaining cruising speed with a paddler with lower muscle mass".

Mooch,

The others give you crap, but those are the exact questions I'd have asked. Followed by "how athletic is she?".
