Didn't I warn you guys about the wind?  :smt003  You guys made the right decision not to go out on the yaks.  Thanks for the report and pictures Jonathan.

Yup you sure did but after getting me on a halibut hookup last week I just couldn't resist trying for one more. :smt003

When landing fish from a pier i find the direct approach to be the best approach. Here is a pic of a 45 3/4 sturg I jumped off the rail at Eckley Pier to wrasle into a crab net. Next time strip down and dive in with a rope in your teeth. :smt001

Ouch. Dove into funky bay waters WITH A DIAMONDBACK! and fish was 1/4" shy of the slot. That is hardcore. Too bad it wasn't a keeper. My hat's off to you man. jim

I had caught a "62 the week before at that spot so I had my alloted mercury allowance for the year already. I tried to grab by the tail initally...big mistake! I grabbed his gills and tossed him in the pot. :smt117 He was foul hooked anyways. The second hook was dangling from his side and he was flopping alongside the hoop. The were a bunch of Mexicans trying to talk me out of it the whole time. "Don't do it maan, you crazy ese!" I handed off my rod and BANZAI!!!!
