Friday my boy and I hiked into the inflow at Steinaker, a lake in NE Utah 10 minutes from the house so I hit it a lot.  Nice hike through a slot canyon. Lake temp is low 40's. The ice has only been off a week and a half. Normally I don't like albinos, but they were fat and we could site fish them. Caught them at will up to about three pounds. More fun than expected. Monday I walked into the north end of the lake looking for bass. Again, site fishing with Senkos in 1 foot of water for 1 to 2 pound largemouths. Try catching largemouth in 40 degree water at a mile high altitude. Good times. Chasing tiger musky this week in the yak too. Will post a real yak report then. Hope you enjoy the far far away report.

So I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains, where the spirits go...........

That bino is freaky awesome.  Wonder how they taste.  What're albinos doing in above ground water source in the middle of Utah?  that seems odd, but cool.

If you or ANY NCKA anglers ever wants to fish NE Utah drop me a PM. I will take you fishing anywhere you want and feed you too. I have inside info on all the waters and species in the area, and extra yaks too. I even have access to a log cabin on a brown trout stream. OPEN INVITATION. I've offered this before, but no one ever seems to want to drive this far.  :smt102  I'll even introduce you to one of Polygamist Al's wives.  :smt003

I was just telling EWB that I wanted to do a Winnebago road trip this summer.  Would NE Utah be a good destination in the summer months, b/c the above sounds really fun.

Absolutely. Utah shines in summer, sucks in winter. I would be glad to guide you to anything you want. Within an hour of my house is Flaming Gorge, the Green River (blue ribbon trout), hundreds of high country lakes, 20 plus mid elevation lakes, dozens of wild trout streams, and species include: brook, brown, rainbow, tiger, albino, cutthroat and lake trout, grayling, kokanee, largemouth and smallmouth bass, tiger musky, burbot, walleye, yellow perch and more I can't think of now. Many are trophy waters with little use. Oh yeah, we encourage harvest of largemouth due to little pressure.  :smt004

sure looks warm.
In the early 1980s I worked at the fishfarm outside of Chico and we hatched and then produced hatch after hatch of Albino catfish. First time this was ever accomplished and made big news. What did you guys do too produce multiple / all Albinos.

"20 plus mid elevation lakes, dozens of wild trout streams, and species include: brook, brown, rainbow, tiger, albino, cutthroat and lake trout, grayling, kokanee, largemouth and smallmouth bass, tiger musky, burbot, walleye, yellow perch" sounds like a good day's fishin'..... :smt005 Didn't know you guys had such variety. One of these days I'd like to hit the Green. I'm sure there's a bunch of lesser known, but fantastic streams there too. That's just the well known cornerstone fishery when you think Utah. I know we spoke back at Elk, and you were talking about the oportunities out there. Hopefully one of these days, I'll get out that way. I'll drop you a note for sure. Cool looking albio. If you ever find your way out this way without your yak, and you want to hit the ocean.  Drop me a note, I've got an extra your welcome to. I know you still need your ling fix now and again... :smt002 thanks for posting up.
