We launched at the Doran ramp because the westside ramp was closed for the festival. At 6:30 am we were under way. Dennis my old high school buddy, Tom and myself thought that we would try for halibut first down by Tomales so we could fish with barbed hooks , then go for salmon after getting a halibut or two. We put the trolling rigs out and caught one pretty quick. Around 26 inches . In the box. Then another, then another. OK 3 we are doing pretty good. Back to THE SPOT. Another in the box and they are getting bigger 34 inches. Then 5. Then 6. Then 7. By now we have completely forgot about salmon. I get a big takedown and think OK I have a real nice one now. Not to be. I have 2 halibut on the same trolling rig. We limited out on halibut for 3 of us. Never before has that happened. Nice ocean today with a south lump of 10 to 12 on occasion. Trolling along the beach in 18 to 26 ft we had to keep a sharp eye open all the time and we climbed a few tall boys while going HOLY TOLEDO!

Wowzers...limits of halibut at the beach in April...unheard of !!!! Congratulations on the halibuts....two on one leader....I must know more.

Had you called me back I found out where the salmon were hiding without ever leaving the yard. Besides you were plenty busy....

That must have been an amazing experience. Thanks for the photo album.

Damn glad you're not fishing Albion... We all might have a chance.

There was one thing I forgot to mention. When we were even with Mc Cluers beach there was a little off shore breeze and on that breeze was the definite smell of a skunk coming from shore. We all looked at each other and said I sure hope this isnt an omen of whats to come today. Not even close. :smt006
