Dying to get in the water after some crabs since it opened up here today but the ocean was unhappy.  Looked at Big River Estuary and it was carpet bombed with pots...hmmm.  Me and jelly figured what the heck and tried the Navarro estuary.  Nothing in the traps at all.  Oh well at least we got outside and enjoy the scenery.  Lots of nice water fowl on the water including some woodies.

I need to get a better crabbing arrangement going.  I like my gear, but always feel like an unorganized mess when trying to get my gear in the water.  Me and my buddy have a great boat system, but its too bulky for the yak.   :smt012  Any who, we'll get em next time!

The crabs were all up & down Big River itself?

No wonder the crabs are always small in there  :smt011

There were guys crabbing from the mouth of Big River as far as you could see up stream...a pot every 50 yards  :smt009

I crabbed the mouth of the Eel yesterday morning with about 25-30 other boats (no other yaks!).  It was slow, and there was gear every 10-20 yards at most.  It was a zoo!  I heard that only the guys who went at midnight did well.  I was down there checking out who was going at midnight, but skipped it since there was no moon and my light wasn't fresh.  I should've gone... Last year I had a great time doing that and I slayed 'em.  This year I only got some shorts and had to leave early to keep waning WAF up...  Haven't heard Humboldt Bay reports yet.
