Wow, sorry I couldn't join you but alas I was having my first colonoscopy yesterday, wooohooo,

But anyway great report, and pics, being the landluber I've become, I always look forward to your reports and pics,

I imagine that it won't be too long before you hit the big score putting in effort the way you do.

Thanks, Dale - hope the scope went well.

A really cool thing that happened yesterday is when I was trying for my "Hail Mary" salmon.  The water quality was pretty good all the way in to the ramp, so I just kept trolling (dumb move with a $20 DeepSix that could get snagged up and lost...).  I caught a lingcod literally AT the moorings.  This means that even if it's a bad ocean or the wind is howling during GS4 we will at least be able to plunk bait around right outside the ramp area and have good chances for fish.

You guys are marathon men. 10 miles and 7 hours paddling (aprox.) thats a long time in the saddle. I'm sore just thinking about it, but I cant wait to get out there myself. Nice pics. I noticed one of you guys have a Malibu yak, what model and what size is it. My buddy is interested in a malibu.

Thanks B.A. East Bay Slayers.

Hi Eric,

You mentioned that you saw Dan/Boogieyak there.  Did he go Salmon fishing too?

Man, it was great to get down to Shelter Cove and get OTW. We missed the hot bite by a day, but there will be other days. Maybe Sat.?

It was good to meet you Boogie Man! Love how you set up your yak.

I haven't been in the saddle much of the winter- I was wiped out last night after paddling all day, 95% of it on one side. I really only needed half a paddle.

Saw some huge piles of rockfish on the FF and lost some bait to em too.

When I hooked into that little shaker early on I had high hopes, but hey it salmon fishing right? I got a few shots of it in the water then removed the hook at the side of the boat. Pretty little fish, I estimate around 18-19 in. probly a spunky little 2 yr. old.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at GS4. The kelp beds are big right now, extending farther out than last year right out front of the Tides Inn. Could make for some nice diving.
I got a few pics but some are blurry due to a dirty/water/fish goo on lens.

You owe Domenic a beer, Sonny!   :smt044

B.A. - Domenic and I both have 14'4" X-Factors and we love them.

The pics show nice water, but I only took vids for the first few hours.  Early in the day (right after the squall passed through) the ocean was a mess.  Paddling out I was thinking how glad I am to have the X for its stability in the unorganized seas.

Holy smokes! That's a lot of paddling - and queasiness. Yikes. You guys have guts and determination, that's for sure. Nice salmon pics.  :smt007

We want to be like the FishHunter, but we didn't catch a fish with a big enough #$^hole for our pinkies to fit in.   :smt003

Quite a few shakers (short fish) were being caught, and this is a good sign that the lower year classes are healthy.  It's also a good sign that other, larger salmon are around because the bait and temperature conditions are conducive to salmons' needs.  The legal fish that have been caught down there so far are barely legal (20"+) and some up to 8-10 pounds.  There's a chance of a 20 pounder early in the year, but the bigger fish are generally caught June through September as they've had time to feed.
