I couldn't get up on time on Friday (Big mistake... :smt009) so I decided to try Sat instead.
Left the house at 4:30am & drove up to Capell cove around 6am.  The boat ramp was already like a zoo, so I decided to go to Oak shore instead...  of course, the gate won't open until 7am, so I waited. :smt011  Actually, the ranger came at exactly 7am & opened the gate.
I started paddling out the cove & felt some breeze.  Got to the open water it was already windy.  I decided to paddle against the wind, so I kept paddling to the SW.  The wind got worse & worse, then some wind gusts kept turned my mini-x around but I corrected the course & kept paddling...   When I went through the 50' water & got a take down...  came up to be just a 2 lb smallie... :smt004
the white caps started showing up & I heard on the radio that the PBs around me were talking about me (they thought I was crazy or something... :smt012)  so I asked how they're doing & after 3 hrs of paddling against the wind I found out that I was fishing way too deep... :smt010  the wind & gust kept coming up and the bite turned off so PBs took off, so I decided to turn around & let the wind take me back.  I was going 3 mph on my mini with the wind & it felt like surfing.
came back to the boat ramp exhausted...  what a day on the water...
but I'm gonna go back & try again. next time the right depth! :smt006

How deep was you fishing and what's your target fish?  At least you didn't get skunk on a windy day like that.  Thanks for the report and pictures Naoaki.

from the bait you were using i'm assuming you were targeting kokes and kings naoaki. way to give it a shot.  they are still <20' deep for now, mostly 8-15' deep.  but it will heat up soon and they'll move deeper.

I don't have a downrigger or anything so I don't know exactly but I was hoping ~50ft or so (4oz wt a couple hundred yard out with ~2 mph).  I was fishing for salmonidae then was going to look for bass after but I couldn't stand anymore, so I left...

Way to keep at Naoaki even when conditions weren't promising. Like bassmenBen said, at least u didnt leave there skunk! What were u trying for? The fish are there but u gotta be in the right depth and zone with the right gear and tackle. Of course tho, wind makes it very tough to fish, especially to troll like i mostly do there! i think this last weekend was tough on Everyone for fishing pretty much everywhere. Salmon and kokes there are still swallow.(6-30ft) Look forward to seeing me posting another hookup soon at berry this week! I think im going camping at oak shores this weekend(fri, sat) so ill be posting a hookup there if i go!

yeah, Ben is right (of course he knows everything, isn't he...?) PBs were catching them exactly what he said 5-15ft...
I asked the Ranger about the camp ground & he told me they're not open yet.  He also told me to contact Pleasure Cove 707-966-9363 because they'll be in charge of Oak shore campground.
I would like to give another try this weekend too, so let me know.
By the way, I live in Natomas.

That smallie seems to be doing a good impression of a LMB doesn't it?

It does an even better impression of a spotted bass!
I have to say I'm a little disappointed in your fish ID'ing skills Naoaki.

I am trying to get out there on Sunday if the wife lets me.  We'll be in Davis on Sat for Picnic day and finding somewhere to stay that night.  She says my WAF is down but i'm working on her. I need to cure up some corn this week but other than that I think i'm ready to roll.

haha, I actually took some picture w/ hawg through because I though it might be a spotted; however, it didn't have clear black horizontal marking (had more tiger like marking), didn't have good stomach spots, & the fish color was more like olive color...  The fish's stomach was bloated due to the deep water catch (it was like catch rockfish when trolling for salmon), so it looks deeper body... :smt009   I revived it & watch him go down.  I hope he's ok.  the picture sure seem different than actual fish...  maybe, Hybrid?   I'll post more pics tonight. :smt002

personally i think its a spot and the deeper water might have contributed to the smallie-ish coloration.  i can't remember seeing the facial stripes that pronounced on a spot before but they can have them too.
