non yak santa cruz salmon

havent posted in awhile. car sales have been pretty slow. no time for fishing or yaking. my cuz calls up and says lets go fishing! i'm down. its my day off. bang! 14lb salmon. hoochies r the ticket. and down deep. tight lines. bulldog

yeh. i could hardly wait for the opener .. i had just tried out some new downriggers i bought used. was in a hurry and came to find out there was only 150 ft of cable. bummer. as much as i hated to. i went old school with a sinker release at 225. and got the first one. missed 2 others. but by then it was very late in the afternoon. and mama was blowing up the phone that i was late for dinner. . tight lines

they were pretty much in the middle of the bay. slightly on the santa cruz side.

 the funny thing about it is that my cousin doesnt fish salmon. he usually fishes the bay area. so i told him dont worry about it, i got all the gear. but i called him and asked if he was gonna bring a net.he says yes.  we were going in his boat and i was to meet him in santa cruz.

 so i finally get the hit on my pole and i am yelling for the net. he goes into the cabin on his boat and comes out with this dink of a net. you just dont know what expletives r going through my mind. .

 it was kinda weird because the salmon stayed straight down and when it got to the boat. it came straight up like a missile, jumps and goes head first straight into the net. couldnt have been any luckier. crazy! lol.

 

been waiting to hook up to do some fishing with you mooch.    u probably dont remember. but u were my first. . i met u at lake del valle on my very first yak trip. i had heard of norcal kayak angler. i joined and have been hooked ever since. i am ashamed of saying i havent been to a arranged outing with you all even though i have been a member for several years. ooppss. i promise to be a more responsible ncka member. honest
