I need to purchase a front hatch cover for a WS T160.  It blew off while driving home on the freeway.  I've never had that problem, so I was a little surprised.  Does anyone take any special measure to secure the front hatch when putting it on their roofrack?  It is NOT a dual hatch, and am not sure of the year.  It is the one I purchased from Jeffrm last year.  I saw it online for $40, including AustinKayak, but would prefer to support a local vendor.

For the fishing report:
I got skunked at Paradise Park.  weather was beautiful, and of course I forgot my new Canon D10 waterproof camera that I just bought (but no fish anyway).  My wife and I lovvve halibut, and I've been dreaming of catching one since I started yakfishing last year.  I read up as much as I could and asked the guys at Fisherman's Warehouse and Outdoor Pro Shops to increase my knowledgebase of catching Halibut.  But I soon realized that I don't know sh*t when it comes to catching halibut, other than knowing how to rig it and put the frozen bait on there.  Fished for 3 hours for one bite, but lost it.  There were 2 seals nearby, so they may have been the culprits.  But it was a beautiful day and I saw wildlife and a great view of the Golden Gate bridge.
Paddling back 2.9 miles against the tide was a real workout, as well as getting my yak up the hill to the parking lot- who needs a ThighMaster 6000 when you can haul a yak with gear up a hill?
I am determined to catch my first halibut- but next time it'll be with other NCKAers who can show me the ropes... maybe at the Halibut event in May at Paradise.

Got the replacement for mine from MBK.  Outback Adventures should carry them too, and there is a new store in Fremont.  They may need to ship it from their other store though...

There are only two things that I don't like about my T160. The front hatch you mentioned, and the location of the drain.

I don't open the drain, and I've got a funky setup with bungy cord pulled over the top of the hatch. I want to put substantial straps over it when time the thought occur at the same time.   :smt009

thx for all the input on local vendors- the discount is nice too!

Once my front hatch is replaced, I'll bungee it going forward when I put it on my roof rack.
When I win GS4 and get that new OK Trident, maybe this problem becomes a non-issue.   :smt044

Just saw this. I have the same boat and the same thing happened to my front hatch cover not too long ago after Mooch warned me about hatches flying away. I didn't listen and it flew away.

REI Mountain View ordered the replacement for me for $25. I think it was cheap because I was able to use my wife's REI membership. I did pick it up from their store when the replacement came in. Give them a try.
I wouldn't go so far as to call a lingcod filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a lingcod's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

John,

I just noticed this as well...attached is a picture of the strap I made to secure the hatch on and off the water.  My hatch got ripped off during a beach entry when I foolishly bungied my net to the front hatch and a wave decided to open my hatch for me.

Since you're my neighbor why don't you send me a PM and we'll make arrangements so you can see this in person and all the other mods I made.
