I stayed up too late last night and didn't want to get out of bed when I could hear heavy winds trashing my yard and shaking the house around 6AM.  I hit the snooze a couple times and got on the road an hour before low tide.  Ended up getting in the water right at tide.  It was rainy and windy and the ocean was big and ugly outside, but the south wind blew some clear water into a cool minus tide spot that I've come to know quite well in the past 15 years.  Used to be a few 9's and a couple 10's around that spot, but that's very rare any more.  I found half a dozen abs and was in the water for an hour or so.  Pulled a couple eaters to kick off the season.  It was cold - my hands weren't working very well to fill out my ab card and tags in the rain and wind afterward.  2-3' of visibility made for a really fun session and maybe some good video footage.  Fresh ab dinner soon.   :smt001

Congrat on the fresh seafood harvest.  You're the only diver I know that don't use gloves in this cold water!  Thanks for the report and pictures Eric.  I know you enjoyed your catch.  :smt002

Yep, snorkel.  It's a skinny little runt of a snorkel.  My uncle flipped my Scrambler XT in a freakish morning squall just off of Bear Harbor in '08 - lost a weight belt, ab iron and mask - the snorkel was the only survivor.  I kept it in honor of his perseverance.  The lower volume of air that I can get through this little POS makes ab diving more of a workout.   :smt003

Hi Eric:

Nice place to duck and cover plus pop some 8s. The outside Reef looks way to hairy for me! :smt044
