Hey guys,

Gonna take the family to Albion in May. Does rock fishing open the on may15th?

Few other questions. How deep to i have to go to get some good crab? Also any tips and where to fish would be great too as i have never been there.

Last question... How wide and long are the campsites? rough estimate.. Are they pretty good size?

I also read that there are only a few fire rings, hows this work?

Thanks in advance!

Yeah I think RF season will be in full swing May 1st or it may open that day (15th). Craig will know.

Crab. You can see them right on the dock. So I'd say about 8 feet! It was a total blast standing there with a beer in hand fishing for crab. But I'm sure you mean out in the bay. I will let others chime in. But I don't recall it being crazy deep there.

The sites are at least three cars wide. Jay, Craig and I split on and had all three cars with room in between each for boats. And they are back to back. If you are wondering if your car and pop up will fit. Yes it will with room to spare.

There seemed to be a ring every other campsite or so. NCKA pretty much took over the area so you won't be far from one.

Hey Porky the season for rockfish opens the 15th of May north of Pt Arena. PM Marmite for the crab info he did real well last year and yes like Eric said they were right at the dock so on the high tide you could use a ring and it woud be fun for the kids. There are fire rings. The campsites arent real pretty but they serve the purpose. Look on the Albion thred from last year and you will see tons of pics of the area and the river.

just one more note for the area regarding RF:

May only be taken or possessed in waters less than 120 ft (20 fm) deep

so don't get caught fishing deeper than 120ft.  You technically are not supposed to even possess them deeper than that other than in "transit" to another area.

And, dont drink tequila all night if the swells are over 12', you will puke.  You will puke again going by the fish cleaning station.  How do I know? I was that guy. :smt006

By the way, Patron Silver is much less painful, as is Herradura.. :smt003

First get better from that embolism... And stay away from things that go BOOM!

Porky,

The "C" section is the land of festivity. The "D" section is pretty quiet, especially the sites facing the river.

Like I said, you'll want ear plugs for both the friggin fog horn and the festivities..
