I woke yesterday to my camera wanting me to go out and take some pictures with it, so being the nice guy that I am, I let my fishing pole tag along.  I have a place in mind for photo and videoing some birds and there just happens to be a small creek close by.  So Saturday, I head out to a creek in northwest Washoe.  It's a small creek, so using my ultalight rod, I try a small jig.  It seems like a good choice, I keep getting hits right and left but I couldn't keep anything on.  I come to a nice stretch of water and decide to try a small spinner.

Man, it's tough fishing these little creeks.  You have to be accurate with your casts or you end up snagging the vegetation along the creek which results in scaring all the fish.  But, I finally get the hang of it and catch my first fish, a 14" brown.

I head up further into the canyon.

and I catch a few more smaller browns.

I come to a nice little hole.

and catch a nice 14" bowcut.

The next day, I wake to a beautiful Northern Nevada sunrise.

Just in time, there's a few birds wandering about.

A female sage grouse.

A pair of males.

Edit:
Here's a short YouTube video showing some sage grouse on a lek.  Best viewed in YouTube full screen at 720p.

Edit:

On my way home, I stop in at a forest.  Who says Nevada doesn't have any trees?  They're just made of stone.

Gee, I'm sorry that you had such a rough weekend.  It just looks so terrible, you got to love it.  I see that the camera did its job and a fine one too.  Great pictures!!!

Very nice, I sure love the high desert.  Nice fish for such a tiny stream.  Amazing the places where trout can thrive.
