Also, if you plan on fishing minnows and want to buy them at the bait shop by the lake you probably want to call ahead to make sure they actually have some.  Be warned - they are $1.99 each.

Depending on the route you  are taking you may be better off buying minnows in bulk either in lake county or in petaluma on your way to mendo.

You're probably already gone, but I'll probably see you up there tomorrow.

Also meant to mention that C&R is recommended as I believe they aren't stocking it like they used to.  Although the person that would know isn't with us anymore. :smt010

Best of luck tomorrow gentlemen.  Look forward to the report!

I didn't make it to mendo (due to the rain), but will be going the weekend of April, 30th if anyone wants to come fish and drink a few beers. Caught a few strippers in the Delta though so the weekend wasn't a total loss.

One more thing. What fishing set-up do you guys use? 10 lb line enough, or should I go higher?

Most use stronger but that should be fine.  I've landed fish at Mendo on 8lb.  Just takes a little more playing of the fish - although hopefully not to exhaustion if they are to be released.

Yup, I use six pound test with a 10 or 12lb leader. As long as you have a half-way decent reel and they're not runnin' for the submerged brush you should be fine.

The lake is just about full and it was beautiful (albeit a bit cold) last week-end.

As others have said, 6 - 10 should be fine. Be nice to the fish so that you can catch them again.

The water has come up a noticeable amount since saturday too.  The dirt near the south ramp where some of the guys were packing up on saturday when I launched no longer exists.  The water is actually to the curb of the south ramp parking lot as of weds.
