Generally spring and fall are best from what I understand.  Look forward to your report as I hope to fish it the following Saturday.

Nice!!! I'll be there with some buddies if you want to get out for a day. Any tips for fishing stripers. I understand trolling live shad works the best. Also, I noticed your planning to attend the Ling cod trip on May, 15. I'm planning to go for my first ocean experience. Any suggestions?

Live shad work the best but acquiring the live shad can by cumbersome.  Most people just use live minnows slow trolled on a carolina rig with a 1/4 oz. sinker.

If I fish Medo at all, it will be on Saturday April 10th.  I plan on fishing Yakhopper's event at Clear Lake on Sunday April the 11th and will be heading up EARLY Saturday and was thinking about fishing Mendo.  Will you be there that weekend too or just the 2nd through the 4th?

In regards to GS IV, I'm probably 50-50 and even if I do make it, I will have the family in tow and no kayak or fishing gear.  It will strictly be a family weekend.  I'm trying to introduce the wife to NCKA and the best way for me to do it does not include me ditching her with the kids while I go out fishing.
BTW, welcome to the board. :smt006

Trolling really slow with live Minnow about 100' behind you around the points and in front of Crappie Cove for best results!

Thanks again guys. Know of any good camping spots. I'll be taking my tent trailer and am not familiar with that area.

Kyen is the best place to stay (lakefront). The lake will probably still be cloudy and cold Stripers usually turn on more toward the end of April. Bait will be your best bet,the Crappie and Catfish should be biting. Should be fun to explore that lake hasn't been full in years. Oh and don't fish in Mooch's secret spot he gets  :smt013

You mean Mooch's secret place is the "whole" lake?

You can fish anywhere in the lake but stay away from this "secret spot"  :smt003
