Four Yakers taking a much needed break from the stress life sometime dishes out. Ben (fishfarmer), Jed, Martin & me enjoyed a beautiful spring day on the Napa River. No sturgeon love. I scored one feisty striper now headed for the smoker. I was visited by a bird (I wish it had been a duck) A very majestic pure white goose. Don't think they come that way in nature, probably someones pet. It kept coming closer I thought it was being a photo ham. That was until it viciously bit my arm. Had I been able to grab its neck, his goose would be cooked.

Nice striper,

Thanks for the report,  I've had my run ins with geese, they can be really dangerous around little kids, seems to me maybe the only good goose is a d... goose.

WTG on the striper Dave. That camera of yours didn't give the striper justice.
The fish was actually really fat and healthy. I hope Ben did better than the
rest of us and landed himself a sturgeon. BTW, the noise that the goose was
making was like she was the one being attacked. I wished I had a chance to
take a picture of the whole thing but I was anchored ahead of you Dave.
Yesterday was beautiful even without the presence of Mr. Dino himself.

Dave's goose was something of a highlight for the day.  :smt011

They're pretty nuts this time of year. We once had a goose that lost his mate, so he set his eye on our Golden Retriever. Followed her everywhere from March to May. Used my wife's bedding plants to build her a nest on the patio where she hung out. This went on for years until my wife insisted I get rid of him.

Aside from the lack of fish it was a beautiful day well spent. Got off the water about four.

That must be a cuttest Sturgeon I've ever seen  :smt003  To catch a "bigger" Sturgeon, use "bigger" baits  :smt003

I had a run in with what must have been the same swan if you were just North of the RR trestle at Cuttings.  That stupid thing was honking for the longest time, then my buddy noticed that it was coming straight for us.  It took it's time, but was obviously determined to get a hit in once it got to me.  I have heard that they hit hard, and the forearm was within easy striking range. I got my paddle ready and brushed him off the first time.  The swan played like it wasn't going to do anything-preening, sticking his head under water, I really think he was waiting for me to look away.  I figured I can play that game too, so I stuck my paddle blade in the water.  As soon as I did that he came in for the hit, but I nailed him hard in the chest with a jab from the end of the paddle.  I knew it was the only way to get the message across.  He swam back to the dock where his mate was, honking the whole time.  My 2 buddies thought it was hilarious!

I think that the both of us need to take a picture of the giant swan paddle boat that sits on a dock at Black Point.  I remember that it's just North of the RR trestle.
