but doesnt the Prowler 13 Angler have those scalloped foot rests? I think that was the main reson i got the trident 13 cause it was adjustable...

I could be wrong, my knowledge is limited....

Yes, you are correct. The Prowler 13 has footwells while the Prowler Trident went with the adjustable foot pegs.

I did a rough check; Prowler 13 is about $700 while Trident 13 is about $1000.  do you think the differences are worth the price differential?

If you want a kayak to fish and dive off and if you have the $$$, get the Trident 13 and you won't be sorry. Basically, the P13 is an older model and the T-13 is the upgraded version. The easily accessible hatches makes a world of difference when your out in the ocean. You can easily store your fishing rods or dive gear when your dealing with surf launch and landings.

I thought someone would be reccommending the Cobra Fish n Dive or "fish n Pig" as we call them.  I have fished and dove occasional from many years off of this aircraft carrier like platform. Is is slow, a little bit heavy? Yes but this thing almost always lands upright on the right side after a wipeout in large surf.  I have always installed the large rectangular hatch in the middle of the craft even though it has a huge open tankwell on the stern. I was told it can adequately handle 350 of gear with the captain on it's nearly 3 1/2' beam.  It is a tug boat but still holds up nicely after 11years of abuse.  (It's main use now is lobster fishing in harbors.)  I'm too lazy to push her through the surf anymore!
Good luck in your search!

For diving AND fishing you WANT the center hatch.....don't settle for the prowler if a trident is in budget. At the end of the day I have always appreciated being able to peel off all the gear and shove it straight in the hull without fumbling around or forcing stuff in the small front hatch (always a pita to get longer rods, long fins or my 90cm speargun in there.

Shoot Yakhopper a PM. In the past he has had some good deals on OKs with slight cosmetic blems at FW in Fresno.

My first kayak was a Malibu Two which is a great kayak - it's a tandem so you can bring a friend, or you can paddle solo. It's not too heavy, and it's fast. I've caught everything you could catch in these waters from it, and it works fine as a diving yak.

My newer kayak is the O.K. T-13 Angler. It's heavier, more cumbersome, and slower. I honestly prefer the M2.

The T-13 has the rod pod and sonar shield and tons of storage, but if you think you'll be doing any hauling down cliffs or over cobblestone beaches, consider getting something lighter, IMO.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

X Factor here too - love it.  Big and bulky and so stable you'll be good to go even in rough conditions.  Diving is so easy from it, and storage is huge.

You need to do some test paddling I'd say.   :smt001

Another X Factor here - super stable, tracks well. Yep, it is a tank compared to some narrower boats with less freeboard. Dry ride if you want it to be, super in the chop, comfortable, lots of room and great in the elevator zone . . .

Malibu X13. Smaller and lighter than the x factor in the previous posts. The newer models have some good improvements over the year I own. Fast and tracks well.
