I'm looking for ideas on transporting my rods. Right now my rods are bundled together and layed in the back of my truck. They roll around and slide sometimes when driving to the grounds, I've broken guides like this.

Anyone build a rack or anything similar for their rods? Pics? .

I use heavy duty, large cardboard tubing to travel with my rods.  If you've ever had a rod shipped to you, thats what they come in usually. Seems to be able to hold about 8 rods securely.

I'm looking for a rack that I can use with the reels on the rod.

I have a cargo bar that I use in the back of my truck and was thinking about buying another one and mounting some clips or a cheap Berkley horizontal rack to them.

....slip you rod into a pool noodle and then stick 'em inside your kayak.

I am building another version of what I used to use years ago when I lived in Arizona. It's a 7.5' section of ABS attached to my roof rack between my kayaks with heavy duty hose clamps. It runs right between each of my yaks while in transport. I'll try to get picture posted soon.

The PVC ideas had me thinking. Here's what I came up with today. I would have liked to have used something other than a 2x4 for a cleaner look (maybe I'll paint it black)  but this is functional and  pretty much what I was after. I have to roll with my tailgate open so now I will feel a little better about my rods in the bed.

Just some ABS and a 2x4. Pretty secure as is. The ABS is secured to the 2x4 with 2 screws @ each 2x4 to keep the whole thing from shifting. The 2 outside rods are trigger sticks, I cut a notch in the bottom half of the pipe for the triggers. The last 8" or so is cut into a half moon and it keeps the rods from rolling over. The center is a Sabiki rod.
