My neighbor loves the clam Sashimi  I gave hime last Thursday so he asked me to go with him there and show him the rope.  I always wanted to paddle from Miller Park to the clam beds for sometimes now so that what we did yesterday. We arrived to Miller Park around 1:30pm and slow trolling toward the South point of Lawson's.  It took less than an hour to get there due to the fast out-going tide.  Took pictures of the wild life along the way and enjoy the weather.   We fish from the point while waiting for the water to retreat so we can dig for clams.  We had lots of fun in the mud and got some big clams around 6" in length (don't count the tube since it can stretch a mile long)  :smt003.   We rode the incoming tide back to the launch just after the sunset.  Some pictures of the adventure...

Wow, this is a gutsy boat for T Bay!  Great clam photo and thanks for sharing the adventure.  I have always loved my time on THE most pristine bay in California!

I checked the wind forcast for that day and it's between 5 - 7 mph which is not bad for this bay.   I wouldn't do this on a gusty wind day for sure!  Saw lots of seals and birds in the bay.   We should do an overnight camping at one of the nice beaches in this bay around summer time.

Good job on the clams there Sonny. You gonna have to take me under your wings and show me the ropes on how to find those creatures. A summer camping trip to that area sounds pretty interesting.

We should do an overnight camping at one of the nice beaches in this bay around summer time.

Bob, Monte, and I camped on the beach directly across from Miller Point. It was one of the funnest things I've ever done.

Better to do it on a nigh that doesn't have big swinging tides, though, because we had planned on fishing for leopards all night from shore but the tide ended up being so low that there was over 100 yards of mud/1' water. We learned our lesson after hooking two batrays that got stuck in the sandbar and broke off.

Great time, though. It's good to have a support boat to take the heavy stuff. We went through a lot of wood and luckily there were two pallets on the beach we also burned.

Wholy threadjack....kinda.

I did.   Didn't you read my posts on lake Chabot in Vallejo's.  They both hooked on kayak and he's saving money to buy a yak soon!

Sonny,
some said that it's doable with just .5

Yes, by the time we left there!   I say .5 is doable but not much clam beds exposed and you got to be quick.

I've often thought about an overnighter out there during the halibut season. It would be fun. Toughest thing is picking a time in advance and hoping for cooperation from the weather. Maybe even a full moon to do a little night touring....

It really should be at least a -1.0 for some decent clamming and even better if you wait for a -1.5+
