 Here is the Deal...

We are invited to participate in these events...

Basically it puts us in a division with BassBoats under 90hp and Belly Boaters....

We start out last, but are last to weigh in... and get to fish water with in the start zone.

$90 entry fee ....

The top point leaders get invited to fish the last event to compete for prize money and a kayak...

I have explained to The Tournament Director of How we have done things and this is what he has come up with, I am merely passing on information...

These are the e-mail correspondence we have had about the event with the FPT that should shed more details...

Quote
"Hey Don,

Glad there is some interest!

Here is the program we have outlined that the SCBBBC club members thought was a good idea:

Belly boaters and Kayaks will participate against the bass boats - in the small boat division.

They will pay the same basic entry fee as the small boaters do - $90.

I will waive the membership fee - if they are paid members of any Kayak club. If they are not paid members, they can still participate, but the membership fee will be $10 per person. I will collect this $10 fee and send it directly to the respective Kayak club they belong to and apply it to their membership fee for that club.

Belly boaters and Kayakers will blast off after all the big boats go, just as we already do with the small boats, and come in last.

Trophies and payback will be the same as it is for the small boat division as they will be part of that division.

If I get an average of 20 boats at the four designated events, I will have a fully-rigged Kayak or belly boat for the top five point earner amongst the belly boats/kayaks, to win at the 2010 FPT Classic in November.

The 4 qualifying events:

Berryessa - March 27th
Folsom - April 17th
Clearlake - Aug 14th
Delta - June 5th

I will also guarantee that the kayaks will make it on the TV show to promote their club, and will ensure that they are featured in the Fish Sniffer publication when they write the story about the event.

Man...it don't get much better than that!

Let me know what they think...(some belly boaters have already signed up!)

And the Payout .....

Quote
"Here is the payback with 25 boats - without option money included - which is a PURE 75.5% payout ratio:

1st - $500
2nd - $300
3rd - $275
4th - $225
5th - $200
6th - $200

I am SO anxious to see how this turns out!

Well,   That's it, I still have a Question out to him concerning the " Club Fee....? "

Brings up that question if we should be charging ncka dues.....   :smt102

I am not making the Berryesa event... working...

And live well is still the issue, but Arron Swerkes posted a nice tutorial on a home made live well that he said works fairly well....

http://www.scbbbc.com/Scbbbc_how_to_make_a_livewell.html

So, if ya ever wanted to take on Bass Boats on their turf, here may be your chance...

I think this format has a long way to go on making a level playing Field and getting the respect we deserve,  but

It's a start....

 To Register....

Agreed, but this is a different type of Venue....   They need to see fish held up to the Masses....

                                                       :fishing1

showing a pic on a Hawg trough would be like speaking French....

The Mentality of these venues is why I am a Happier Person KayakFishing    :smt004

But, if your into some High Intensity Competition, this might be fun and if it gets some participants,

might spell better for the future as " Bugs " get worked out....

And Yes,

There is a $10 Dollar charge for " Club Fee " per participant and check will be mailed to Bill....

 Ka-Ching!!!!!    :smt003

The Tournament Director was surprised that we don't have a " Club Dues,,, "

I don't know...  I assume,  Vince has taken this into account and as he stated in his e-mail,
he is waiving the " Membership Fee... " but is charging a $10 club fee which will be sent to ncka via Bill....

If ya want to register, follow this link....

One thing to consider is, with a $100 entry fee, competition may be light and odds might be good to get your money back and then some, as well as a Kayak...

Do you have to attend all qualifiers? Is it 100 bucks per event?

I guess it depends on your points... if points are given to events and not your stringer, I would say yes.  and I'm Fairly sure it's a $100 bucks each event....  It's part of the reason these Bass guys need sponsors....

I'll ask about the point system...

This looks very interesting. Spend 4 bills for the season might be a little too steep for me though. The venue looks nice though. The only place that really hates me is Berry. Hmmmmm... got me thinking.

Cool idea and nice work, Don.  I hope some NCKA members get in on it and put some reports on here about how it goes off.   :smt001

If I can figure the live well thing out... I may give it a go. Carrying that much weight on the boat may be difficult. How big of a well do you think you need to keep those guys alive?

Arron Swerkes posted this link about a making a live well that according to him, does a Good job....

here is a Quote from him about this live well....

Quote
Both BnT and SCBBBC have a great set of Live well requirements.  They are minimums set by the club to minimize DOAs.  Most of the guys in these clubs overbuild their live wells.   And they rarely are in "bellyboats" anymore!  They're fishing from aluminum framed kickboats with 10' pontoons and oars + flippers on their feet.
I say we follow suit with what is tried and true.  Yes, there will be inevitable DOAs. It happens.  With BnT we have seen a great decrease in DOA #s since the most recent rule change moving to require out-of-water livewells for any vessel with oars or paddle.

Let's not over think it.  Just put it together and go have fun!  SCBBBC will be showing up for some of the Future Pro events and livewells like mine and the one seen built at the link below are what Future Pro Tour is likely to expect us to use.

http://www.scbbbc.com/Scbbbc_how_to_make_a_livewell.html

I locate the overflows differently than they do on the kickboats, but you'll get the sense of it with these videos.  Most of what you need is available cheap at Walmart and, if you are within range of the Silicon Valley, SF Peninsula, East Bay, I can help you put it together..... Or I'll sell you one custom made.  I just wanna see kayakers out there slayin bass with the best of 'em.  And I'd like to see our own Trail!!

You are an old dog arent you? For the 400 bucks to enter, plus gas and expenses I can buy myself a brand new kayak. No , not a used scupper pro.
