Collins Lake 2/20

Well, When I get to the gate the lady told me the last 3 days things have picked up a lot. That gets me excited. Launch at 8:45. 10-15 min across the dam and I pick up fish # 1 on Rinbow pattern Rapala. Take pic and let go. about 13 in. Keep cruisin and get hit again in about 5-10 min. I'm thinking this days is going to rock. Miss the next one pretty soon after. Stop and cast for a bit. Something big chases my Rapala across the top of water and misses. Bass I think. BIG. Well, now I see rain coming across the lake so gear up with light rain jacket and pants. Should have used my waders I guess. Rained very hard for 2 hours. No more fish rest of day. So much for thinking it was going to rock. Got home and somehow lost picks of fish and a couple other things. Only ones left are these. Will try again soon after a couple clear days, whenever that may be.

Great job rob and nice pics, BTW this would probably be a great spot for yakhoppers event in the hookup section.....wouldnt you think????

There are a lot of campsites and group sites too. Easy launching around the lake near camping too. Bass and trout are abundant and big also. Good fishing close to launching also.  Depending on time of year it could be a good spot. When it warms up there are a lot of ski boats, but no pwc's allowed.

Thanks for the report..  my dad likes to fish collins so I gotta get up there soon.

+1 on the camping there as well..  the sites are mostly in the trees and fairly nice, plus you can drive right down to the water near the dam.

25-30 mins east of Marysville.

Call ahead to Cathy if it's muddy the bite sucks , if it clears up at all she will let you know before you drive up.
