It's billed as JIS7 waterproof...but do y'all still put it into a waterproof case?

Salt-water proof may be different than fresh-water proof.

IMO all radios need the extra protection or they won't last long.  Do a search through the archives for a lot of discussion on this topic.  It's well covered.
