March 13th AOTY Awards and Shark Derby

I am now just coming to the party to eat and have fun. Fishing on Sunday as Paradise will open ay 7am for the first time this year. Keith has shiners and its almost hali time. Bringing an assload of babybacks/ french bread with, you know it.

There are definitely sturgeon near the San Leandro Marina.  An old time fish slayer once told me he used to catch'em near the clearly marked boat channel leading out from the marina to the middle of the bay.  If I was going to try for sturgeon this Saturday, I would paddle at least half-a-mile out, anchor up current of the boat channel, and toss my bait close to the drop-off (but safely out of the way of boats).  Sturgeon are known to cruise the drop-offs.

Our Shark Derby is just a group activity (with lots of fun action) to work up to the main event, our AOTY Picnic, but if you guys are want to target dino's, they're out there.

I've caught one in the same area Chuck described. Perfect habitat for those dinos. Goodluck fellas. I will be in attendance have fun, eating, & drinking. Leaving the yak and gear at home. See yall Sat.

I only see a few people into the derby idea so far, and i'm kinda on the fence too.  Should we start a separate thread for this to gauge actual interest?

I will be a non yakcombatant today...I will be dragging family along although I may arm the kids with sabiki and fish from shore...there is a pier there right?
