SPR is opening this week Friday February 19, 2010.  They have a presale day to buy your pass and get your kayak inspected.  The next presale is Wednesday from 8am to 4pm.  This year they will allow the kayaks to launch from the main rec area with the zebra inspection sheet.  I'm hoping to hit the place on opening day.  Here is their link to get the low down => http://norcalfishing.com/san_pablo/index.php

It appears "The Dam Company" is no longer managing the facility which is great because they didn't do crap to maintain what was once a great fishing place.

This is a great place for a meet and greet if someone is willing to set it up for the East Bay NCKA members.

I love that place. That is where I got lucky with my whopper from last year. I hope the lake will deliver once more for me this year. Thanks for the heads up

that Dam Company sure fxxked the place up.
I live 5 mins away..bought a 3 month pass last season..only to have them mid way thru close off the main boat launch mon, tues, weds..
from main rec area...I am not sure where is the easiest place to launch kayak....near the main concession and handicap boat launch?

I will still probably get a 3 month pass as after 4 trips it pays for itself.. I think its around $50 for 3 months...plus you got to get the annoying daily fishing permit..
I would rather go to Delta from where I live but the convenience of the place is good i guess.

looking fwd to hookups here..

Wow...How much does it cost to fish there?  Pass fee? Daily fishing permit fee? Parking fee? Boat inspection fee? Toilet fee???  :smt003

Toilet fee???
  $5  but it's on the water....  :smt003

Glad to hear TDCo is out... they were a pain,

if they get rid of that Nazi Fisherman Hater EBPpolice woman officer,

        Things will really improve...

Launching from the rec is nice, but much more comfortable from the launch, cost about $16 to fish per day, only assume it will be more this year....

That place pisses me off, but it can be Good....

and no doubt, there is a world class LMB in that mud puddle,

passed by it today and it is full

I have seen small poodle size LMB there...active especially during the time they plant stocker trout..one monster bass kept pursuing the  feable trout as I was reeled him by the dock..I purposely let the trout flail near the dockside then I would see a shadow loom by....
too bad I couldn't legally use the trout as bait...but it would work.....

I guess I need to start learning how to fish for LMB.  I have only caught them by accident while trolling.  Here is an article from SFGate reinforcing your believe that a record bass is in our area including SPR http://articles.sfgate.com/2009-07-19/sports/17218956_1_largemouth-florida-strain-bass-biggest-bass

It looks like it may rain but not until 2pm which is perfect because if you launch early you will probably be done before 1pm and rain never stoped NCKA members.  Here is the hourly forecast for Friday http://www.accuweather.com/us/ca/el-sobrante/94803/forecast-hourly.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=1&metric=0&hbhday=2&hbhhour=7.  I will be launching from the Main Rec area also known as the handicap ramp.

I will probably fish tomorrow on the shore (only option if you dont have yak) mainly main rec area, I will go for bass in the morning then chill for trout after, I usually do good on this lake but since the recent draining and construction of the dam fishing slowed down dramatically, I still remember I used to fished this lake 3x a week sneak in after work, I caught 54 trout in one day, 38 on castmaster and 16 on power bait, 4 of them are over 4lbs,
Live today for tomorrow's sake.
