OK guys I think I am gonna take the plunge I got a pile of gift cards for BPS that are burning a hole in my pocket. I'd like to get a Revo for my Trevala. Gonna use it for the salt. I know few are using a version of this reel Mooch, Rockhopper, others?

Give me the scoop. What version? Spooled with?, etc

Big fan of the (super light) low profile Revos  :smt007 I have an inshore that I've used for light tackle rockfishing - loaded with 20 # power pro with 20# mono top shot.

Got introduced to the Revo Toro by Patrick (Holy Toledo) and ended getting one.....it's gonna be a go-to for my Alaska fishing expeditions....It's got 50# Suffix braid (way smoother feel compared to the Power Pro) and will top shot it with mono (20 to 30 # mono)

Eric, don't know much about them other than I have the inshore and I love it. I'm using 30lb braid and it is a good little reel.

I have a Toro with 60# Suffix. Like it a lot. But it doesn't reel in lings any better than my Abu 5601  :smt002

I would also note that I crashed in the surf once completely unprepared (don't ask - I was more stupid than usual that day). My Revo sucked up sand like a vacuum cleaner. Took me hours to clean and I still think I'll have it serviced. My other rod had a Daiwa Coastal Inshore. Not nearly as much sand, took a 1/4 the time to clean, and it's like new. It doesn't have the line capacity of the Toro though.

fwiw,

Ben

If you're looking for line capacity the Toro is great. I have the Inshore and I love it. It's been great for shallow water rockfish (~50 fow or less), and has caught some nice ling cod. The inshore has also been a great all around reel for Large Mouth, casting lures for striper, and even halibut. I love that reel  :smt007

The Revo Inshore has such high rating that I ended up buying two of them. Can't wait
to try them out for shallow rockfishing. Come halibut and striper season, it will be
my go to reel.

I was in the same situation about selecting either an Abu Garcia Revo Inshore or Toro 50 or Shimano Curado 300e.  I narrowed my selection down to the Toro 50 or Curado because of extra line capacity for the salt. I played around with all of them and went with the Curado 300e 5.1 which is now a veteran of about 5 RF trips and my favorite reel.  Performance wise they are probably all pretty close.  I went with the Curado because it palms in my hands the best.  I didn't need a power handle.
But You can't go wrong with an Abu Revo either!

The Toro comes with a double and a single power handle :smt001

oh man... I lust after a Revo inshore, but the Luna 300 is my favorite reel right now.  If it had a stronger clicker i'd sleep with it.

Love the Curado 300 over the Calcutta 400TE and Luna 300 for light tackle.  Just my honest opinion

If I was casting all day I agree with the 300E but if I am matching it up with a Trevala I think the Luna is a better match and a tougher reel, I also like the metal side plates over the Graphite on the 300e

Man they had the Luna on clearance at Cabelas bargain cave last week and I took my sweet time deciding to get it...now it's gone! But I did get another Quantum Cabo PTS low-pro caster...have abused the sh!t out of my older Cabo and it is still like new.

Sorry, no opinion on the Revo other than the SX looks the sexiest.

I've used the Toro 60, Luna 300, and Curado 300, all great reels.
The Curado feels good on a trigger stick real low profile and comfortable for smaller paws. I would rate it the lighter duty of the three reels. With a light rod it makes a great "Hold all day" combo. I would keep it out of the sand though.
The Luna has been great for Rockies to Sturgeon, I put a power handle on it for more torque and a set of Carbon smooth drag washers with Cals grease. It has the unique ability to stop freespool by just raising the thumb lever, or turning the handle.
The Toro is a lightweight  beast and it handled Yellowtails in Baja no problemo. It comes with Carbon drags, power handle and is very lightweight.
