So Sunday evening I'm looking at my work schedule and the weather and decided it was Monday or never. Arrived at the boat launch about about 8:30 and watched bank anglers, elbow to elbow, while they hauled in nice sized fish from the little bay to the right. Looking straight out front there were 7-8 boats kind of milling around. Just not very appealing. So I started trolling. Before I got to the river I passed three boats who, each and every one, looked at me with the palms up and shoulders shrugged. Nothing much seemed to be happening.

Got to the river, then up the river a ways for nothing. I saw one guy who had parked his boat and kids, and was fishing from the bank. He pulled in a nice trout while I was watching him. So I paddled another hundred yards and decided to take a break and soak some bait. I was about to doze off when my utra-light rod about jumped out of my hand. The line was peeling off and the tip was bent into the water as I'm trying to loosen the drag some more. This goes on for a few minutes and I'm getting pretty excited ... until I see my catch ... then all I could do is chuckle. First thing to pop into my mind was SaltyKitty ... errrr ... SaltyDog   :smt003

Lost one nice trout (but it looked more like a big Koke) next to the yak using a swim bait and that was it for the day.

I'm planning on it. I just need to put a couple of possible conflicts to bed before I commit.

Not very salt durable I'm afraid. Ya, my Hook1 wish-list is becoming sizable :smt012

I was thinking the same. Should have pulled it out from under the kitty's chin so the other end registered about 30 1/2 inches    :smt002

We knocked the snot out of them from shore.  Taking the kids there this weekend.  Hope to get them tied into some nice trout.

Yeah, they are milling around rec cove and will continue to for a while I think. I caught one small dfg type planter upriver and three at the river mouth. Water temp is key I think since upriver it is a bit colder than in the main lake. Marked schools of them near the mouth but not a thing upriver. Pardee is a great lake to kayak!
