lucky you're not named bassmanben.  I have a reputation to uphold and boy did i fail miserably last weekend!  at least the name TROUTmanben is still available since that seems to be all I can catch  :smt011

I'm headed for Naci this weekend with Bass-n-Tubes to kick off another year.  I've fished their tourneys for the past 3 or 4 years and it is always fun to carry a nice bag of fish to the scales.  At the Sonoma County Belly Boat Bass Club's (whew! mouthful there...) State Classic at Clear Lake last October I had the pleasure of catching a nice 4.5 pounder right at the buzzer (so to speak, 2 minutes left) with an audience of about 20 people.

Live weigh-in brings a crowd. It's exciting.  The competition is fierce, the pressure is on.  All weights are official.  And your fish pics include YOU!

I've never had any trouble with a 48 quart live-well and a good limit of fish on my kayak.  The Cobra FnD feels like overkill with it's 600lb weight capacity (I still stand up to flip and pitch when there's no wakeboarders buzzing me).  Had a Hobie Outback for one season that did even better.

I'll fish with Future Pro!!  Heck yeah!  I've been brainstorming the logistics of a Kayak Bass League for a while.  I never have clicked well enough to get a good fish-on-ruler photo, and bass can be short and fat or long and anorexic.  Put'em on a scale.  Let's do it!

Both BnT and SCBBBC have a great set of Live well requirements.  They are minimums set by the club to minimize DOAs.  Most of the guys in these clubs overbuild their live wells.   And they rarely are in "bellyboats" anymore!  They're fishing from aluminum framed kickboats with 10' pontoons and oars + flippers on their feet.
I say we follow suit with what is tried and true.  Yes, there will be inevitable DOAs. It happens.  With BnT we have seen a great decrease in DOA #s since the most recent rule change moving to require out-of-water livewells for any vessel with oars or paddle.

Let's not over think it.  Just put it together and go have fun!  SCBBBC will be showing up for some of the Future Pro events and livewells like mine and the one seen built at the link below are what Future Pro Tour is likely to expect us to use.

http://www.scbbbc.com/Scbbbc_how_to_make_a_livewell.html

I locate the overflows differently than they do on the kickboats, but you'll get the sense of it with these videos.  Most of what you need is available cheap at Walmart and, if you are within range of the Silicon Valley, SF Peninsula, East Bay, I can help you put it together..... Or I'll sell you one custom made.  I just wanna see kayakers out there slayin bass with the best of 'em.  And I'd like to see our own Trail!!

I recommend that any who are interested in this come fish with Bass-n-Tubes at Clear Lake (or any other even on our schedule) May 22-23.  You'll see how the event flows, the weigh-in process, the home-built livewells.  Get your livewell together (I'll help) and fish with us.  The Keys of Clear Lake Oaks will be loaded with scrappy bass in all stages of the spawn that weekend and you'll catch some great fish and have some great times.

Kayaks are Tough a55 fishin boats!!

Ok, there's my rant.  Still can't believe it took me this long to notice this thread. lol

My wife thinks I'm workin',
My boss thinks I'm sick,
My buddies know I'm Fishin'.
