During the past couple of months I've been releasing everything except vermillions- which I love to eat- and any lings under 25 lbs- I'm looking for the 30 lber to win the tournament.  So I've been throwing back lots of legal lings, blues, and blacks.

That all stops now.

I have now discovered that rockfish make the best crab bait and I ran out of heads and carcasses after only the first weekend of crabbing.

So from now on, I'm filling the stringer whenever possible.

I have been saving all my carcasses all year long and they just about fill up my man freezer.    I hope to go out within the next month.  Where have you been crabbing at?

It definitely works.

I read that cabezon doesn't work well because it's a natural predator to crabs so it scares them off.  I don't know if it's true, but it's an interesting theory.

Been taking my PB out of Tomales to Ten Mile Beach on Pt Reyes.  Mega-tons of crabs.

I have pots that I wouldn't do on a yak.

 Dear Fellow FisherPersons:

You can find all the stink bait you need at the fish cleaning stations around the  Santa Cruz harbor!
Cheap cans of cat food works well.  Save the rock fish for soup .
