I just shipped my first video game.  I normally make consumer/business software, but this game has an ecommerce model and was actually quite a bit of fun to work on.  The team was/is great and the results aren't too bad.

Of other note, I'm paddling an Advanced Elements Expedition because it's what will fit into my S2000.  Front seat's for the kayak, trunk is for my gear bag.

Great to meet everyone!

I work in the legal department of a large corporation.  I work for my family: wife, three kids and dog (Aussie).  Fan of Cal, Giants, 49ers, Warriors, and any team playing against L.A. and Stanford.

I did tile work from 20 to about 26 when my back and the housing market went kaput at the same time. I worked industrial plumbing for a short period which re-enforced that my back was no longer all that great.

From 2007-09 I worked for a .com company as a traveling photographer. That job was pretty awesome. My boundaries were from the Oregon border to hwy20, and from the coast to Nevada. It gave me alot of free time  (fishing time). Basically gave me paid one day fishing tips 3-4 times a week.  That job ended with them not paying me properly and the labor board letting them know that they owed me $14k.

Since then I have floated along making money on craigslist, buying and selling. I also do odd jobs through friends. At the moment I am currently working on soft bait molds of original construction. I completed a 6 inch Sanddab. I finished the blank for a 10 inch lamprey last night which is going to be cast tomorrow. I recently found out that plastic in bulk, is not cheap!

Cop

After reading everyone's responses I suppose I should elaborate. I am a career Correctional Officer. This means I am a group home leader, counselor, social worker, mental health worker, criminal investigator, gang expert, forensic photographer, communications cryptographer, electronics weapon instructor, defensive tactics instructor, crime scene technician, emergency medical first responder, hostage negotiator, immigration officer, interpreter, firefighter, clerk, expert witness, narcotics interdiction liaison, suicide prevention lead, tactical marksman, dispatcher, informant handler, intelligence agent, and surveillance technician......I think I forgot some stuff.

I worked in the timber industry until I saw the writing on the wall, and I had to decide between growing weed and doing an honest job. In Humboldt, law enforcement was one of my limited options. I go to school full time, as well as working 60 hrs a week towards my goal of becoming a political science/constitutional law teacher somewhere in a red state.

Just re-read this thread for inspiration since I've been strongly considering a mid-life career change.  I've always been interested in what people do for livings, and why, and we certainly have a diverse group here.

Agree.  It's fascinating to read the backgrounds of such a diverse group of people.

I'm the Web developer for the Fish Sniffer.  You'd assume that means I get to fish a lot.   Hasn't worked out that way, but its very cool working in the fishing industry as an avid recreational angler.

I have sold  software for a few of the largest software companies in the world. Currently I work for someone who enjoys world cup sailing and has its name on a arena in the bay area.

Would rather work for the smallest kayak shop any day.
