I'm new to Kayak fishing and live in Soquel (next to Santa Cruz).  I run my own custom woodworking shop that I built on our property.  I've been building mostly cabinets and furniture for about 15 years now but really build anything: fishing rods, custom wood steering wheels for cars, restoring VW buses and BMW....

I'm stoked to be a part of the community!

GIS Analyst for an Environmental Consultant

so i spend most days in the office processing GPS data, making maps, utilizing Lidar for watershed analysis.  The other half of me is a wanna be aquatic biologist, so they let me out to do some backpack electrofishing now and again.  Two weeks ago i finished up a 12 hour day wearing a 40 lb backpack shocker, pulling every fish i could out of a section of creek that was being de-watered (about 3,000 in all) and all i could think was, "I can't believe i am getting paid for this :smt003".  Nothing like a day on the water!

Let me know if anyone needs any help with mapping tasks, my new favorite things is playing with KML files (the kind you can draw on google earth), and getting them on a GPS unit.

I work in a state hospital with DD clients. I'm a paper pusher and a hold puncher. I use fishing to relax and exercise with my tarpon. My work site is about a mile away from my lake so I spend my lunches fishing.

You might be caring for my cousin Jenny.    That is a tough job.   We help my Aunt and Uncle every year with some cash to help buy Christmas gifts for the people housed there.   So many people just forget about their family.   Thank goodness mine has not.

Morgan, you are so right. The family comes up once a year or once every 2-3 years and some never visit their family member. They might be retarded but they still feel, miss and need love. Christmas is a very hard time for my clients. Do you blame them for having bad behaviors? Thank you for loving on your family member.

I work in the marketing department at Diamond Foods (a snack food company that makes Emerald snack nuts, Pop Secret popcorn, Kettle Brand potato chips, and Diamond of California nuts).  I don't have a kayak yet, but I love to fish.  I just moved to the bay area two months ago from Arizona where I was finishing up grad school.  I am originally from the Chicago area (large and smallmouth bass fisherman :)  I mostly just lurk on the boards watching the classifieds section and reading up about people's creative rigging ideas.

If anyone wants to talk marketing, ideation, consumer research, or just wants to network, feel free to shoot me a message.

Tight lines,
Brad

I didn't know where to put this, so I posted it here.  I have been impressed by the individuals within NCKA and someone might be able to do this.  I know of a job opening to be a caretaker for a 2000 acre ranch close to Healdsburg.  Knowledge of cattle, horses, run a bulldozer, irrigation, and anything else that goes wrong on a ranch is helpful.

You would get free housing, I believe it is 3bed, two baths- pay of 40,000, no medical,
and would  have flexible hours.  However, you would  not  be able to have each weekend off.

I have been to this ranch many times, and it is amazingly beautiful.  One of the last remaining ranches that has not been turned into vineyards.  If you are interested, pm me
and I will talk to the owners.

Wow! What an amazing opportunity! If I was in a different place in life I would be all over this.  Good on you Ray for posting such a generous opportunity.
